Indian Bridal Jewelry Trends 2015

Jewelry is a part of Indian culture from time immemorial. Whether it’s a wedding ceremony, a naming ceremony of a child or even the first birth anniversary, gold jewelry plays an important role in all these occasions.  With the exchange of designer ideas from across the world, jewelry designs and styles have evolved to combine the essence of various cultures. This year, the jewelry experts at KaratCraft have noticed that the traditional jewelry such as Hath Phool is making a comeback. Also Pakistani-style maang tikka, Jhoomer, is also making a big show among the Indian brides.

This year apart from the traditional diamonds and pearls, we will get to see a wide collection jewelry crusted with colored gemstones such as rubies, emeralds. Officially, Marsala is the Pantone color this year.  Hence,   many jewelers have come out with a limited edition of rings, pendants and earrings in the shade of this hue. Mozambican rubies, tourmalines, eudialyte, and rhodonite are some of the precious stones that capture the shade of Marsala. Here is our take on the bridal jewelry collection this year.

Maang Tikka replaced by necklaces as head gears- Heavy necklaces traditional designed that can be detached to a single strand can be worn around the head as a maathapatti. Similarly, you will also notice that many brides are converting their maang tikka to a striking pendant.  Again, if you are looking for a unique jewelry as your hair piece, why not try the Pakistani maang tikka, Jhoomer. It’s a lovely piece of Mughal jewelry, a finely designed chandelier piece, which is arranged askew on your head and gently graces the side of your forehead. Goes will with the traditional bridal outfit.

Heavy chokers are back in vogue- Diamond studded chunky chokers with pearl drops is back in fashion. These necklaces add grace to even clumsiest of brides. Large bold pendants are also back in fashion. So are the stacked pendants. Finely and upscale designed pendants to blend with your wedding day attire is available with many reputed jewelry stores today.

Haathphools- This is an amazing piece of jewelry that is in great demand these days is a traditional piece that has been around for decades. It blends well with a western and traditional outfit. Delicate bracelets are being replaced by haathphools these days. The one end of the jewelry is attached to finger ring(s) while the other end is linked to the bangle or cluster of bangles. The design can range from a single and simple chain to an intricately and finely designed piece studded with diamonds and other precious stones encrusted in gold. Haathphool is a luxurious piece of jewelry that reflects sophistication and elegance.

Inter-locking multi-tiered finger rings-Ornate finger rings such as stackable, Midi rings, knuckle buster, and full index finger are trending this year. Finger rings hold a special place in a woman's heart. The engagement ring is always elegant and intricately designed piece encrusted with diamonds or precious gems. While, the wedding ring is a simple gold band that matches with that of the  groom's. These rings are worn for a long time. So why not go for a stackable or multilayered finger rings that blends with the attire and brings out your personality.

Peacock motifs were the in thing in wedding jewelry trends this year. Peacocks are a symbol of elegance and beauty. Whether its a pendant, earrings or haathphool, you can incorporate colored gemstones to match perfectly with your bridal wear. Pearl and diamonds are always part of any Indian weddings.

All the brides-to-be out there, now it’s up to you to decide, the jewelry you want to adorn on your D-day.
